Ralph Poschke is Head of Competence Center and Teamlead QC Final Products at dsm-firmenich, where he oversees a global quality control portfolio for vitamins, carotenoids, and cosmetic ingredients. In this role, he leads a team of 14 employees, ensures full cGMP compliance, and drives laboratory excellence through method validation, analytical innovation, and international heavy-metal testing standards across more than 20 sites worldwide. With a strong background in chemical production, analytical chemistry, and process optimization, he combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership in GMP, SHE, and Lean methodologies. Prior to joining dsm-firmenich, he gained extensive experience as a chemical process technician and laboratory technician, working at the interface of production, R&D, and scale-up. His profile is defined by deep scientific competence, a strong quality mindset, and a consistent commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

This presentation highlights critical contamination points in the supply and testing chain, presents key findings from recent research on nitrosamine formation in microwave digestion methods, and shows how redesigned exhaust systems, optimized digestion methods, and reduced use of hazardous acids significantly improve EHS outcomes. The session demonstrates how technological measures, process redesign, and targeted awareness training for employees combine to form a robust safety framework that minimizes CMR exposure risks, strengthens compliance, and prepares laboratories for future regulatory requirements.
